Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
“Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.”
“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.
John 21:16 (NLT)

St Stephen’s is a large family of Christian people who from time to time face personal struggles or heartbreaking crises. We are eager to help families or individuals who are going through a difficult season, bringing the hope and care and healing love of Jesus Christ.

We work hard to make sure this care is present in our many small groups and throughout our parish life. Our Pastoral Care teams include dozens of members of our parish who pray for people multiple times through the week, visit with people in hospitals and nursing homes, and who take Holy Communion to our shut-ins. Some of our ministry teams have a special focus of care, from GriefShare, to hospital visitation, to family issues, to 12 Step groups, to healing prayer. All are skilled in various ways to come alongside people facing life’s troubles with Christ’s healing compassion.

Our Pastoral Staff oversees these teams and is available for personal pastoral conversations as well. They are in the office Tuesday – Friday from 8:30 - 5pm. A member of our pastoral team can be reached evenings and weekends for emergency needs. You can contact us through a phone call to the parish, through a communication card, or through a personal conversation.

We utilize a team approach to pastoral care ministry at St Stephens, which ensures a far higher level of competence and care. This enables us to bring multiple resources alongside you in a tough season of life, when needed and welcomed. Information shared with our staff is kept in a small circle of confidentiality comprised of the pastors and the director of pastoral care, and is not shared outside that circle unless permission to do so is given. At your request we can refer you to others who may have further skills in your area of need.

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Gal 6:2

Geoffrey Chapman - Senior Pastor
Geoff Chapman, Senior PastorWhen I came to Christ about three decades ago, I was so grateful for a fresh start in my life, for God's "sweeping it all clean" forgiveness, and for a life changing relationship with Jesus.

There is nothing in the world like discovering his love, his grace, and his immense purpose for our lives. That is what we are all about here at St Stephens... "God-Changed Lives" is our theme!

Our prayer is that wave after wave of people who are tired and restless, who are scarred and broken, who are fed up and unsatisfied with what our culture has to offer will join us in discovering the joy and renewal that come from a new relationship with Jesus Christ. And our prayer is that we will release back into our homes and our neighborhoods, into our workplaces and our city, into the world near and far wave after wave of disciples who have made "God-Changed Lives" their theme!

Bill Henry - Associate Pastor
Bill Henry, Associate PastorIt has been such a blessing to be called by God “back” to St. Stephen’s.  Having both grown up in this church family, my wife Dana and I feel a strong sense of God’s hand at work in our return and count it a privilege to serve the Lord at this time, in this place.  We were blessed to have been able to serve in 2 wonderful parishes over the past 8 years; one in Florida and one in South Carolina . Serving in those 2 places helped us to identify our passion to be used by Jesus Christ as He trans-forms people’s lives. That’s a central reason why the St. Stephen’s vision of “God Changed Lives” resonates so well for us!

I look forward to continuing the process of reuniting with old friends and meeting new friends.  Dana and I, and our kids; Wilson, Annie, and Charlie, look forward to many years serving the Lord together with you all here at St. Stephen’s and in the Sewickley community!

Debby Frantti - Pastoral Care
Debby Frannti, Director of Pastoral CareIt is a great privilege to work with our pastors and lay ministers to care for the people of our church family. We hear needs expressed and receive prayer requests from our church members daily. We pray for these people and respond to their needs as well as many outside our circle because of our longing to be like Jesus. It is a great challenge, but always a joy to comfort and care for one another. We desire to have every person included in an ongoing circle of prayer and care.

Doug Raeder - Student Ministries
Doug Raeder - Director Senior High MinistryWhat an amazing privilege it is to serve here at St. Stephens, it has a special place in my heart, from growing up here as a child to now serving here. In 1999, God called me into Student Ministry to bring His love to students who are like I was when I was their age.  What better way to live into that calling than working in the com-munity I grew up in. My wife and I are passionate to teach and lead students into a deep relationship with Christ by the examples we set and live, and events we design. I am thankful to be a part of this Ministry and hope to lead it far into the future.
