Citywide Ministry

Our urban outreach currently includes:

Petra and Covenant Church– We now work in partnership with these churches. We have undertaken several joint projects with these churches to reach out to Pittsburgh’s urban population. Some of these projects include:

Blessings Over Pittsburgh- an evangelistic outreach in downtown Pittsburgh, organized by St. Stephen’s and Covenant Churches. This event included handing out tracts, prayer and worship.

Imani Christian Academy– Annual backpack drive. Speakers bureau with approximately 20 speakers from St. Stephen’s. The speaker’s Bureau is being expanded to include a youth leadership program developed by Brenda Gregg of Greater Allen AME.

Petra Food Bank ­- St. Stephen’s volunteers organize food drives to stock the Food Bank.

Other City Ministries:

Holy Family Institute – Organized a Christmas program for over 100 children.

Shepherd’s Heart Church – Small groups are invited to serve dinner to and participate in worship with the poor and homeless at least once a month. Christmas dinner was served to 175 poor and homeless. Coats and blankets were distributed.

Seeds of Hope Church – Dinner is provided to 200 indigent children on a weekly basis.

Prison Ministries – Annual outreach at Laurel Highlands Correctional Facility and monthly visits to local prisons.

New Hope Church – Children’s Clothing drive, benefiting indigent 200children on the North Side.

Food from the Heart - The 40 Days of Community “Food from the Heart” food drive, mobilized over 40 small groups (approximately 430 individuals) to work together in various capacities. The church collected 20 vans full of groceries (over 800 bags) and resourced 5 area food banks and ministries.
