Anglican for Life
Georgette Forney

What is Anglicans for Life? Anglicans for Life (www.anglicansforlife.org) is the only Anglican/Episcopal organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia, protecting embryos from research abuse, and promoting abstinence and adoption. Anglicans for Life is a para-church organization, which means that we are not run by the church but we minister within it.

What does Anglicans for Life do? This is another question that is asked frequently but is not easily answered.  One of the most visible things we do is to collect information from a variety of sources and condense it into different types of media—newsletters, brochures, website, DVDs, etc—so that those who receive our materials can learn about life issues and then educate others about them.  In addition, we help individuals who feel called to life-affirming ministry, education, and advocacy to find or develop networks and outreach opportunities within their churches and communities. Anglicans for Life is also co-sponsor of Silent No More Awareness, (www.SilentNoMoreAwareness.org) a campaign to make the public aware of the devastation abortion causes women, men and families, as well as reach out to those hurt by an abortion experience.

Good Shepherd Counseling Center is here to help individuals and families heal the brokenness of their lives. We believe that Christian counseling helps individuals become the people God intended them to be. Healing comes from being listened to, being seen with Christ’s eyes, and being healed through His grace. We believe in using all our experience and training when counseling individuals and that God’s power goes beyond our expertise to heal in areas we may not be able to reach.

Griefshare
Dave & Ann Wollman
Email: dwollman@geneva.edu
Griefshare assists grieving people to find comfort from the Lord to choose to recover. We use video tapes which discuss grief and loss. The tapes feature well-known Christian leaders and ordinary people. Then we discuss the tapes and our responses to the information presented in small groups.

Small groups give people the opportunity to share their feeling and experiences. Confidentiality is maintained. We meet periodically in four to nine week clusters. Please contact the Ministry Leaders if you wish to either serve on the team or come to our next seminar series.

The next Griefshare meetings will take place in the spring of 2008. There is no charge for this class. Please call or email Debby Frantti at 412.741.1790 to register.

Parish Mansions
Jim Brackin, Jane Hitchins
Parish Mansions is a ministry which was formed in 1976 by members of St. Stephen’s Church to provide “a home away from home” for men and women past retirement age who wish to stay active in community and church affairs, but who need to reduce their homekeeping responsibilities. Fourteen apartments in two buildings are administered by a volunteer Board of Directors, aided by an on-site resident manager.  Please contact Jane Hitchins (412-741-5183) or Whitney Taylor (412-741-3006) for more detail or to obtain an application.

People Helper's Ministries
For information please be in touch with the PHM team by calling 412.741.1790 ext. 136.

People Helper’s Ministry has quietly flourished for more than 20 years at St. Stephen’s Church. Our primary mission is first and foremost to help meet the needs of people in our congregation; then the broader family of believers, then to the community in which we live, and finally to the person who God brings our way.

We help connect people to the resources they might need to be supported through difficult times or a period of special need. We facilitate connections to specialized help such as counseling healing ministries, shelters and food and clothing banks. We have limited resources to offer the person in financial need, believing that money rarely solves a problem, but at times it is needed to provide relief.

How can you be involved?

  • Offer a pro bona service such as: carpentry, running errands, cooking, cleaning, auto repair - whatever gift you have to offer.

  • Purchase books and gifts from the Book Corner - the profits of which come to People Helper's.

  • Offer to work in the Book Corner, that through personal service you can increase the giving to People Helper's.

  • Give financially so that we are equipped to help those in need.

  • Donate in-kind gifts that can be passed
    on to others.

PHM’s vision is to touch this world in a tangible way with the love of Jesus Christ ….for there is no greater gift to give!
