Welcome to the Nursery!
The nursery program is a nurturing and loving atmosphere that all children experience while at St. Stephens Church. It is provided for all babies whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are attending church. The volunteers are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for each child. Additionally, all our volunteers have been cleared through state child protection policies.
When is the
Nursery Available?
The Nursery is open and staffed for the Sat@ Six (birth -36 months), 9:00 (birth – 36 months), 10:15 (birth -24 months) and 11:15 (birth – 36 months) services. Teachers will be available to greet your children ten minutes before each service.
What to Bring When Leaving Your Child
in the Nursery
Please pack your child a diaper bag containing any items that he/she might need during the service. Some suggestions to include would be a change of clothes, a bottle, a snack, a pacifier.
When You Arrive
At the Nursery
A volunteer will greet you at the check in area to receive your child, diaper bag, any other items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child, such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies, and special needs.
At the time of check-in, a volunteer will attach a name tag to your child’s back with his/her name on it. You will be given a security tag with a number, which your child will also have attached to their back. If we need to get a hold of you for any reason, that number will flash on the pager system in front of the sanctuary/Grace Commons. At that time, please return to the Nursery with your security tag and present it to the volunteer. A child will not be released without the presentation of the assigned security tag.
Snacks
Cheerios are always in the room as a snack. If your child is not allowed to have them, please notify us at check-in.
Nursery Schedule
The following is an approximate Nursery schedule:
- Welcome Time: hugs, bubbles, and toys
- Praise and Worship Time: musical instruments and songs
- Snack and Prayer Time: cheerios and water
- Bye-bye Buggy Time
- Diaper Changing Time
- Free Play Time
Bye Bye Buggy
The volunteers take the children on a “stroll” around a path so they can experience the sights and sounds of the church. The requirements for the buggy ride are two leaders with one buggy. A sign will be posted outside the classroom indicating that the children are on a stroll.
Checking on Your Child
Feel free to check on your child at any time during the worship service. However, we ask that you do it discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.
Pick Up Procedures
In order to pick up your child, you must bring the security tag that was given to you at check-in.
Classroom Evacuations
Children in the nursery will be brought out the preschool front door and across the parking lot to the side of the green house. You should not go to your child’s room in the event of an evacuation. We will dismiss the children using the pick up procedures above.
Your Child’s Health
To ensure the health of children and volunteers, we ask that sick children do not attend PowerKidz. The Committee on Control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that a child should not leave home when any of the following symptoms exist:
- Fever (100.5 degrees)
- Vomiting or diarrhea within 24 hours
- Any symptom of childhood diseases such as German measles, chicken pox, or whooping cough
- Common cold-from onset through one week
- Sore throat
- Croup
- Any unexplained rash
- Any skin infection-boils, ringworm or impetigo
- Untreated pink eye or other eye infections
- Any communicable disease
- Lice, including the presence of eggs or nits
Thank you for entrusting your child to us. We want PowerKidz Nursery to be the best hour of your child’s week! |
